BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Mervin G. Hillier is an executive coach with Executive Coaching Network,
Inc. (EXCN). Prior to joining EXCN, Mervin spent 25 years in the corporate
sector with such companies as Abitibi-Price, Bristol Myers, AES Data, and
the Smith Group of Companies. Mervin was also involved in NUVISION
CONSULTING GROUP, which focused on strategic business management. For
three consecutive years, the CIBC and National Post have recognized Mervin
for building and sustaining one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies.
He has held senior executive positions as president, chief operating
officer, chief financial officer, executive vice president, and director.
Addressing the complexities of managing an organization can be a daunting
task for anyone. Mervin’s focus is maximizing shareholder value by
creating congruency between the strategic, fiduciary, and management
structure of an organization, while holding everyone accountable to that
end. He works closely with executives in strategic business planning and
analysis, increasing management’s depth and understanding of strategic
critical issues, and providing executive counsel and accountability.
Recent speaking and/or seminar engagements have included: Celebrating
Entrepreneurship: Will You React to Change or Embrace It? Issues of the
Millennium: Leadership, Learning and Loyalty; Performance Management: The
Path to Profitability; Becoming a Manager of Excellence; and Corporate
L.I.F.E. and the CEO.
Mervin is currently the chair of the Corporations and Foundations Capital
Campaign of Shepherd Village, a long-term healthcare facility. In
addition, he is a founding member of The Executive Network (T.E.N.), as
well as the 2002 president-elect for the Society of Management Accountants
of Ontario. He was a long-standing member of the Presidents of
Entrepreneurial Organizations (PEO) and was also the previous president of
the Association of Independent Corrugator Converters.
Mervin holds an international MBA from Edinburgh School of Business. He is
a Certified Management Accountant, and has several professional
designations in operations, materials, and logistics management. He also
completed undergraduate studies at Masters College, specializing in
religion and behavior.
