BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Dr. Homa Mahmoudi is an executive coach with Executive Coaching Network,
Inc. (EXCN). She was recently the chief psychologist at Cedar-Sinai
Medical Center Department of Psychiatry. She is the founder and director
of Transcultural Communications Center (1972). Homa specializes in the
areas of cognitive behavior therapy; cross-cultural management and
development of strategies for better communication; and negotiation and
marketing with companies involved in international business and global
planning.
Prior to joining the EXCN team, Homa was the director of Ravanbeh
Psychological Institute. Since the 1992 riots, she has been one of the
leaders in the development of community programs for implementing better
understanding between gang members and various racial groups in Los
Angeles.
Homa lectures internationally and has conducted research on women
managers in Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, China, and Indonesia.
She served as a speaker and delegate in women’s conferences held in
Moscow 1984, Beijing 1990, Uruguay, Helsinki, Berlin, and the United
States.
Homa is a member of The American Psychological Association, World
Congress of Cognitive Therapy Association, Women for International Peace
and Arbitration, and several other professional and civic organizations.
She is the author of a number of academic papers and books related to
the areas of cognitive behavior therapy, cross-cultural psychology,
communication, business and management, and women and peace studies.
Homa is a licensed psychologist and has been a professor and
researcher at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) and
several other universities in the United States and abroad. She has a
weekly television program on psychological issues of immigrant families
and is a regular guest on one of the Los Angeles radio talk shows.
In March 1997, Homa was a delegate to the U.N. Commission on the
Status of Women-50th Anniversary Meeting, New York City. That year she was
also selected by the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles and was recognized as “An
Incredible Woman Making History.”
